Agrigento is an Italian town of 59,136 inhabitants, capital of the province in Sicily.
Throughout its history has had four names: the Greeks, the Romans Agrigentum, or Kerkent Gergent for the Arabs, the Normans had to Girgenti, the official name of the city until 1929, when, during the fascist period, was used a 'Italianization name that had the city during the Roman Empire, Agrigento. Agrigento assumed its present name with [Rd] n.1143, 16 June 1927.
